By Bill Douglass .
AUBURN---The Nevada
Union High School football

ended ‘up as quite a feather
in Nevada Union's cap.
TheJunior Varsity finished
with a winning score of 20-7,
and the varsity had even a
more spectacular score.
The Placer varsity kicked
offtoNU. Two minutes later,
Mark Paye, NU quarterback,
threw a pass to Bob Thomas,
with. Thomas running nearly
40 yards for the first touchdown ofthe night. Gary Parsons kicked the extra point.
NU decided it was time for
another touchdown, Paye
threw a pass to Thomas and
it looked like the Miners were
about toscore, but a penalty
moved the ball back to the
line of scrimmage. This did
not satisfy the Miners, so
Paye againthrew to Thomas,
who ran 30 yards before he
was stopped. At the end of
the first quarter the score
stood 7-0.
Thesecond quarter started
witha bang. Ken Uhl, halfback for NU, pushed through
»from the 10 yard line for a
five yard gain, Full-back
.

SACRAMENTO---An upsurge
inthe take of deer during the

andthe first half ended 14-0.
Inthe third quarter it looked like Placer might push to
a score. But the locals
strengthened and the third
quarter was scoreless.
Inthe final period, Placer
got a drive under way, but

scoring.
Both Rick Rockholm and
Ken Uhl picked up considerable yardage for NU, Uhl
taking the ball all the way to

drove for the final touch .
down, and Parsons made the
conversion,
The Hillmen tried to penetrate the Miner defense, but
failed, and the game ended
21-0.
This was NU's first league

in splendid shape. Some of
the obvious contributors were
