The Mys~-tery Package brought by Irene Stoops went to Ardith Williams.The next regular meeting will be -held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. at the Club House with Mary McComber and Ardith Williams as hostesses. ++ +44 Fire Control Officer John Bigley, of the Camptonville District ofthe U.S. Forest Service, urges that all residents check their flues before winter, as a fire prevention measure. Bigley hopes this will prevent any more house fires such as the one which burned the old Zerga home in Oak Valley on Sunday night, Sept. 29. The fire was not seen by anyone. Bill Oaks, who occupied the home, managed to get out of the burning building but could not call anyone, of course. And he could not walktoa neighbors as both of his feet and his right.leg were burned. Qaks waited there until Monday, morning for help. The U.S. Forest Service was called but all they could dowas "“mopup” and Bigley took BillOaksto the County Hospital in Nevada City, Oaks stated that the fire started inthe vicinity of the kitchen cook stove. +++++ Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Utterback on the birth of a 7 pound 6 ounce son Oct. 1.
