CLIFFORD W. TWOMBLY Attorney-at-Law Room 707, 1151 South Broadway Los Angeles 15, California. On the morning of Oct. 6, students came to school to find water the Pwing of the high school building. Sometime early inthe morning a junction of two hot water pipes separated in room P-6 which sent water cascading through the P-Wing. The custodians worked as quickly as possible to clean the water out, however for most of the day, only the rooms on the left side of the wing could be used. Those classes normally held on the right side met “in the library or the multi-purpose room. A meeting of the Nevada Union chapter of the California Scholarship Federation was held last week. At the first meeting of the honorary organization, Miss Carr, one wf the advisors, greeted the new Sophomore novitiate members. She also explained the honors of belonging to the C,S.F, Mrs, Elmer Stevens, the other advisor, added that on a nation-wide scope recognition is shifting from ability in sports to scholastic achievement. An election was held to elect officers. Curt Staley was elected president and Gregory Mott vice-president, The bell for first period rang however, before the remaining two officers could be elected. Another meeting will be held at the first opportunity to complete the election. esee2e8 Oct.-16 is the date set for this year's Back to School Night at the Senior High School. Parents are invited and urged to come and go through the schedule that the students go through daily, though with only ten minutes per class. Those 14 years or over are needed, also adults. The meeting will be held at 3 p.m, This seemingly confused schedule will, it is hoped, facilitate bus transportation. Also, the twenty minutes between lunch periods allows the cafeteria staff to clean up the multi-purpose room and prepare for the next stampede of hungry students. The previously longer lunch period left many students with time for which there was nothing to do. This created confusion inthe halls and on several occasions, friendly scuffles which developed into quite unfriendly fisticuffs. eeese¢8 Last week, the Girls’ League held a meeting at which Martha Porter was elected president; Mary Wright, vice-president; and Linda Benallack, secretary.’ Dial 265-2471 ‘CLASSIFIED ADS .
