"What was that you just
said?"
"Why don't people speak up
. . . they mumble so I can't
get half of.what they are
saying!"
Have you ever said things
like that. . . .peevishly, perhaps; and then wondered just
why you hadn't heard the remarks of others distinctly
enough to understand them?
If you, you just experienced
some of the first subtle warning signs of nerve deafness
. .. .the most common type
of hearing loss, Millions suffer
ficiency and, unfortunately,
many are not even aware of it
— until much too late.
There's no disgrace about
loss of hearing — but to ignore
it should certainly be cause
for remorse. A life without the
sound of voices of one's loved
ones, life without the sounds of
music, the sounds of wind in the
trees, or the sound of the ocean
or that river you love to sit
beside. . .
could be easily corrected.
Alexander Graham Bell was;
the renowned inventor of the
telephone. . . .but many perhaps do now know that he also :'
invented one of the earliest.
practical types of hearing aids. And many have been the improvements made in such aids
since his time.
If you are having to "listen
harder" — and are not enjoying
it at all, perhaps the surest
way of achieving a greater degree of physical and mental
well-being is to have a free
hearing test — immediately.
Western Nevada County residents may avail themselves of
this free service from a certified hearing aid audiologist in
the person of Vernon V, Kahley,
owner and sole operator of the
Professional Hearing Aid Center at 122 Mill Street, Grass.

VERNON KAHLEY is the owner of the Professional Hearing Aid Center on Mill Street in
Grass Valley.
Mr. Kahley will recommend
medical help if that is required.
On the other hand, if the hearing loss is correctable, a carefully designed hearing aid will
be recommended to permit the
client to hear as nearly normally as possible. e
Audiologist Kahley first engaged in the hearing aid profession in Stockton some years
ago. He later moved to Carmichael where he still owns.
and operates a hearing aid center professionally managed and
staffed. A few weeks ago he
purchased the Mill Street establishment, where he is available daily, Monday thru Friday
from 9 until 5 p.m. and on Saturdays by appointment only.
Further information may be obtained by phoning 273-9347 during regular business hours.
Vernon has little leisure
time, but enjoys his wife's pleasure in a fine collection of
antiques, her lapidary work and
association with the Carmichael
Gem and Mineral Society.
Esther Kahley is a true "rock
hound" and finds field trips for
collection purposes a fine form
of recreation and relaxation.
At home they have the company of two cuddley cats. ..
Miss Blondie and Miss Muffin
— mother and daughter; and a
dear little Cockapoo named
Buffy. Buffy was the neglected
pet of a neighbor, so Vernon
arranged to adopt the fivemonth-old ball of black curly
fur. . . .and he wouldn't take
a pretty penny for the little
rascal now.
When you visit the Professional Hearing Aid Center,
Vernon will carefully explain
all of the technicalities of the
free hearing tests. . . .which
you may take without any obligation whatsoever. If you do.
