She was homeward bound from Honolulu and was 670 miles southwest off Hawaii and 670 * miles southeast of her San Pedro port when the fire broke out. Army pilot, set a new airplane speed record by covering a 100 kilometer course at the rate of 248.5 miles per hour. The record was made at the National Air Races in Michigan. His machine was a Curtiss Army Biplane, powered by a Curtiss 400 HP motor. The sheep were reported as being in excellent shape. %* 1 Ok ok Ok Earlier in the month Alfred Tresidder, 13-year-old son of Mrs, Julia Tresidder, a former resident of Grass Valley, was almost instantly killed when the bicycle he was riding homefrom school was struck by an automobile. The accident occured in Tonopah, Nevada, to which place the family has moved two years previously.
