Final Fair Figures Show
Attendance Increase Of
3000 Over Last Year
There have been many
activities at the Nevada County
District Fairgrounds since the
closing of the Fair.
Final figures show 46,193
people visited the popular four
day event, an increase of 3,000
in attendance over 1964 and
nearly triple the number of Fair
visitors since the 1957 figure of
22,000,
Three days after the close of
the 1965 Fair, SecretaryManager
Malcolm E. Hammil1 and his
staff had mailed out over $20, 000
in premium checks; the greatest
percentage going‘to residents of
Nevada County.
Payrolls for the over 100 fair
employees were mailed, the
August books closed and the
budget for 1966 was started and
worked upon by the manager and
fair board through the month of
September, and presented to the
Division of Fairs and Expositions,
On Monday, October 4th the
manager was called in to go
over the budget and in exactly
one hour and thirty minutes after
going over every figure with
budget analysts the 1966 budget
was approved,
Immediately an engineer
visited the fairgrounds, made a
survey of Lions’ Lake parking lot
which is to be surfaced this year
and took the measurements of
the Grandstand that will be enclosed on back and sides and is
preparing plans and specifications so bids may be called for
right after January 1. An early
completion of these projects is
hoped for before the busy summer
season begins.
