Claims filed after that date will
be denied unless the claimant
has obtained an extension of
time to file for some valid reason, Martin Huff, executive officer of the Franchise Tax Board,
said today.By failing to file claims for
‘this assistance, many senior
‘citizens are losing several hundred dollars to which they are
entitled. ©
The senior citizens property
tax assistance program provides
for a refund of a portion of the
property taxes . paid by persons
who are 65 years old or older
and who have a low income.
To be eligible, claimants
must be over 65 years of age
as of Jan. 1,-1970; must own
and. occupy their own home;
must have paid the property
taxes on the home; and must
have a total household income ofless than $3,350, Qualified individuals can obtain claim forms
from any office of the Franchise
Tax Board or by writing to Senfor Citizens Property Tax
Assistance, P. O, Box 1588,
Sacramento, California 95807.
