local 4-H Club groups have
already decided to take part
in this year’s "Trick or Treat
for UNICEF” at Halloween.
The 4-H clubs are: Woodchuckers; Nevada City;
Spring Hill; Rough and Ready,
Meadow lark; Kentucky Flat;
and Shady Creek.
The money collected will
be used by UNICEF, the
United N ations Children's
Fund, to fight hunger and
disease of children around
the world. Toa child’ in Turkey, UNICEF means a tube
of medicine to cure him of
trachoma, an eye disease
which often makes people
blind. Toachild in the
Phillipines, UNICEF means
milk which many children
have never tasted before. In
1961, 57 million children
and mothers in more than 100
countries andterritories
benefited from UNICEF aid.
In addition to the nine local
organizations which have
previously announced their
support of the Halloween
UNICEF collection, the following will also serve as
sponsors: Esther Rebekah
. Lodge #9; Nevada City Lions
Club; Bethel Church; First
Church of God, Nevada City;
Nevada City Baha'is; and
Catholic Young Ladies Institute.
