Photo by Mills Studio Wood-Cannon United At Whispering Pines The Whispering Pines Church of God was the locale chosen for the ceremony which united Lorena Moraine Wood and George Robert Cannon in marriage on Sept, 16, The Rev. Nick Van der _ Veur officiated at the afternoon double ring ceremony. The bride is the daugtiter of Mr. John E, Wood, who gave her in marriage, and Mrs, Moraine Heathcock of San Diego, Mr, and Mrs, Boswell of Grass Valley are the parents of the groom, A floor length gown of silk organza over taffeta featuring a short sleeved bolero of Chantilly lace, was chosen by the bride for her wedding day. Pearls and crystals trimmed the bolero as well as a wide band of lace which encircled the hem of the A-line skirt, A matching-band of the lace also edged the detachable chapel length train, secured at the waist by a self-fabric Dior bow. A crown trimmed with pearls and crystals secured her elbow length silk illusion veil, She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and pale yellow dahlias with lace leaves, Susan Kistle, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Delores Edwards was the bridesmaid, Both attendants were gowned in mint green crepe and carried nosegays of yellow chrysanthemums, Little Miss Sandy Peaden, wearing a full length mint green gown, daintily scattered yellow rose petals down the aisle preceding the bride's entrance, Michael Sullivan attended the groom as best man, Steve and John Wood, brothers of the bride, and Roger Walters were the ushers, , A reception was held at the home of Mr, and Mrs, Robert Day in Grass Valley. Mrs, Heathcock, the bride’s mother, attended the ceremonies and received for her daughter in a pale aqua suit, The groom's mother, Mrs, Boswell, chose a green knit suit, Corsages of carnations completed their ensembles, Following a belated honeymoon to the bay area, the young couple will reside in this area where the groom is employed and the bride will continue with beauty college in Yuba City. The new Mrs, Cannon is a graduate of Nevada Union High School, Among the out of town guests were: Mr, Stanley Heathcock of San Diego; Mrs, Lorena Decker of San Jose; the Michael Day family of Sacramento, and the Franklyn Kistles of Antioch, Miter Contact Lura Arnold 265-2471 Esther Rebekah Lodge Twenty past noble grands and one past grand were honored Saturday evening during the meeting of the Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 9 in Grass Valley. They were escorted to the center of the floor by June Engle and Barbara Hershman, after which each one identified herself, the year she acted and the name of the lodge she was affiliated with at that time. "What Will Be Will Be" was beautifully sang to the honorees by Gladys Stokes, Susan Stroud was the eldest noble grand, having served in 1916 in an Iowa Rebekah lodge, and in later years transferring to Esther Rebekah, Mabel Thomas was second, however, the eldest noble grand who has continuously been affiliated withE sther Rebekah, She served in the year 1917, She was presented with a corsage by Gladys Stokes, District Deputy President of District No, 21. Charles Engle was the honored past grand from Grass Valley Lodge No, 12, Mrs. Flora Truan now of Sacramento, formerly of Grass Valley, was presented her fifty year pin for her membership in Esther Rebekah. Presentation was made by her old friend, Mildred James of Grass Valley. Mrs, Truan was accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Woodward of Sacramento,for the happy occasion, Silence was observed in the recent passing of a member,
Howard Bennett, The business meeting was presided over by Noble Grand Edna Rudd. First nomination of officers for the coming year was held, Nine visitors from Neva Rebekah Lodge No. 119, including the District Deputy President, Gladys Stokes, and Noble Grand Jane Elliott, were welcomed, Warren Ridinger announced the next public party would be held Oct. 21, in the recreation hall of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, 110 1/2 Mill Street, beginning at 8 p.m. He cordially invited all members, their friends and the public to attend, Mr. Ridinger, at this time, presented Esther Rebekah Lodge with a check for $100 and the thanks of Grass Valley No, 12, in appreciation for their help in the "kitchen remodelling" project, the next meeting of the lodge on Oct. 28 will be a Halloween party, Those desiring to do so may dress for the occasion, Refreshments were served on beautifully decorated tables by Evelyn Gemmill, Barbara Hershman and Esther Hartung. Announcement was made that Luncheon Lynda, coordinator of fashions at Conway's will present an “Autumn Leaves" fashion show at the 12:30 luncheon of the Christian Women’s ‘*Autumn Leaves’’ .Club Thursday, October 26, at the Alta Sierra Country Club. Also, a highlight of the day will be the popular chaplain of the Reno Police Department, the Rev. Robert Garlock. The Rev. Garlock is known as a dynamic speaker and a talented singer, having beena member of the Robert Wagner Chorale for some time. It is suggested that reservations be ‘placed as soon as possible with Mrs. Veda Lykins, 2737931. Nursery reservations for the younger children may also be made with Mrs. Lykins. McConnell-Feldman Wed Elaine McConnell and Clayton Feldman were united in holy wedlock in an evening ceremony Sept, 24 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Grass Valley. The Rev. Arthur Herkamp officiated, The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Georgia McConnell of Roseville, Mr, Arthur J. Feldman and Mrs, E.M. Carse, both of Grass Valley, are the parents of the groom, Preceding the ceremony, Arnold Stunkel sang appropriate songs accompanied on the organ by Mrs, Kathy Woock, A wedding gown of lace featuring five tiers of the lace over a full petticoat, and long pointed sleeves, was worn by the bride as she was escorted down the aisle and given in marriage by Frank Welling. Her waist length silk illusion veil was held in place by a headPiece made of silk petals and trimmed with seed pearls, She carried a white cattleya orchid, surrounded by white roses with streamers of rosebuds, on a silver bible. Annette Steinbauer was the matron of honor, She was ‘gowned in a pale blue crepe with a white lace bodice and satin sash, The secondary attendants were Michelle Mautino and Michelle Cole. They were gowned alike in pale green ¢repe, All three attendants carried white carnation nosegays with ribbon streamers matching their gowns, Larry Forbes. served as best man, Ushering were Al Saldivia and Floyd McDaniel, Mrs, McConnell chose a two piece turquoise suit with white accessories for her daughter's wedding. The groom's mother wore a two piece green lace dress and matching accessories, Yellow rose corsages completed their ensembles, A reception was held in the church social hall after which the young couple left for a short trip to the bay area, The new Mrs, Feldman chose a light blue suit and white orchid corsage for her going away, .
