visitor which. offers
some spectacular views
anda variety of scenery
is a tripup Highway 20
to Washington. Starting
from the Plaza drive’ out
Nevada Street to the
Highway 20 intersection
and follow the signs for
Truckee and Reno.
1. SCOTTS FLAT DAM
--Turn right at Five Mile
House, a former stage
coach stop, for Scotts
Flat Dam. Recently increased in size, the dam
impounds water for the
Nevada City and Grass
Valley areas.
2.WHITECLOUD
CAMP GROUND--Within the Tahoe National
Forest and operated by
the U.S. Forest Service,
tables, fireplaces and
camping facilities are
available.
3. AVENUE OF TREES
--This section of Highway 20, where the tall
pines form an arch over
the road, is considered
‘by many as one of the
most beautiful streches
of road in the state.
4. WASHINGTON--Turn left at the sign for
