Parking Problem...Fund Drive There was a lot of talk several weeks ago about a committee being formed to get together a big. celebration to signal the opening of the Broad Street Bridge in Nevada City. Now we understand the committee has hit a serious’ snag in their planning. The celebration idea is still a good one, the committee feels, but they are now having 4 difficult time finding anyone willing to be first one across the new bridge. * * Ok The national Christmas tree this year will come from California. Word came from Washington this week that the tree to be érected in front of the White House will be cut ’ from land owned by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. at Emigrant Gap in nearby Placer County. upper Commercial Street might become available, buta last check the Forest Service was uncertain and could not see any move from the site for, at least five years. Someone else suggested it might not be a bid idea to put upa multi-story parking garage at the end of Spring Street overlookirg the new freeway. Since abl the fun and ex‘citement has been removed from Spring Street and it appears pretty certain now that it will not return, that piece of property might just as. well be put to some other good use. * * kK x If you'vebeen living a high life lately, the party is over. "Babe" Childers was one of the founders of the Nevada City Little League. He has served as anumpire and also. coached a team. His wife, Vi and their three children live in Nevada City. Babe was ‘graduated from Nevada City High School in 1940, but is well preserved. In addition to being one of the mentors of men's Styles in Nevada City, Babe acts as the golden voice of the foothills co~’ vering the Nevada City and Grass Valley area for Radio KAHI. ‘He is very civic minded and belongs to numerous clubs and organizations as well as serving on the Nevada City Elementary School Board. County Historical Society Meets Next Thursday The Nevada County Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m., November 3, inthe Nevada City Elementary School, featuring the traditional mus-.ical pregram. Pat Jones and Syble Lueteneker will chairman the meeting. FRANK AND LEO Angelini and Jesse Smith in their new building. Their garage complex houses motor repair, brake repair, wheel alignmentequipment, a body and fender shop anda paint shop.They also have two tow trucks that will handle any size vehicle. Their new garage is one of the best designed in the area because it incorporates equipment for the needs ofevery car of today. Frank and Leo like the. work they have chosen to do and have amassed a total of 52 years of experience between them in the use “f the highly technical equipment needed in repairing the automobile of today. Frank and his wife, Angela live in Nevada City and his hobby is photography. Leo has a hobby that is quite different. He holds acommercial pilot's license and love the "wild blue yonder." He lives in Nevada City and is reportedly so adept at the controls of a plane that he could fly a barn door with a fan on it. Jesse Smith (affectionatley knownas Smitty) is the sales manager at the new agency. He and his wife Helen live in Grass Valley. Smitty has 26 years experience in the auto industry and will be happy to show off the New Rambler American line of Automobiles, The body and fender shop, under the most able Harold Helland and Tom Pittsenbarger, can quia 7 (right) are shown at the new Rambler Showroon on Railroad Avenue in Nevada City.
