said last night they plan to marry
when both have served whatever
penalties may be placed against
them.
June Wood said, ‘‘We were on
our way to get married when all
this happened, but we have never
given up the idea.”
Pearman said, “We are still in
love and wish to be married as
soon as possible.”
The other member of the trio
is Albert Gervais, also of the
bay area, who with Pearman
faces trial here on nine counts
of kidnapping, grand theft and
armed robbery. June Wood has
been certified to the California
Youth Authority.
The three are accused of kidnapping Nevada City Police
Chief J. J. Jackson and Deputy
Sheriffs Harley Frink and Elmer
Oates July 18. Jackson and Frink
were released shortly after the
kidnapping in the sheriff's office
but Oates was held hostage until
noon of July 19, when he led the
three into the hands of a 200man posse.
Pearman and Miss Wood were
permitted to visit briefly yesterday afternoon in the sheriff's
office under the chaperoning of
Goldie Wanamake, jail mistress.
June will be moved to the custody of the San Francisco CYA
authorities.

k
Comfort is hard to describe. It’s
a sleeping kitten next to a stove.
It’s that extra blanket on a cold
night. It’s a hammock on a summer
afternoon.
It’s also a Pullman room on an
S.P. streamliner, and here’s why:
You have lots of space to relax
in. You have all the privacy you
want. You have individually controlled air conditioning. You have
the wonderful full-length Pullman bed and clean white sheets
every night. You have your own
private toilet facilities. You have
all the attentive personal service
of a top-flight hotel. And you have
the many recreational facilities of
the Lounge Car, including games,
refreshments and the stimulating
conversation of congenial people.
Next time you travel on South* ern Pacific, try the luxurious comfort of a Pullman room — roomette, bedroom, compartment,
drawing room or suite. Also available: Pullman section space (upper
and lower berths). You can reserve
space in advance.
FREIGHT TRAVELS IN COMFORT, TOO
We handle freight gently and at
low cost, too. On an average we
move a ton of things for only
1.45 cents a mile. We have more
miles of line serving more Western cities and towns than any
other railroad. So, for fast,
efficient and dependable freight
service—whether carloads or Le.
