She was the ‘mother of PhilipR. Newberg, the Sierra. County coroner and Frank N. Newberg, both of Downie-~ ville; sister of Mrs. June Nelson of Peoria, Illinois, Mrs. Mariah, Vest of Santa Barbara, Fred Richard of Mt, Pleasant, Iowa; and grandmother of Richard Newberg of North Ridge. She leaves two great grandchildren. She was a native of Maquon, Illinois aged 93 years. She moved to Downieville in 1932. Funeral services were held in Bergemann Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Hoyle of the Nevada City First Methodist Church officiating on Oct. 25. She was the aunt of Mrs. Gertrude Halcomb, Castro Valley, Mrs. Alice Sommers, ‘and Eldred Jones, both of Santa Cruz. She was born in the town of Omega in 1870 and was a member of a pioneer Nevada County family. She is believed to be one of the last of Omega's pioneer families. She resided in. the family home on upper Nevada Street until three years ago when she went to make her home with her niece Mrs, Halcomb. A requiem was said in St. Canice Catholic Church Oct. was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Bergemann Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. ++ ++ + EASON ---the body of Robert L. Eason of Grass Valley was found in his car October 24, 1963, on Lower Banner Road near Lom Rica Ranch. Death was termed suicide by the coroner's office. He was the husband of Genevieve Eason and father of five children, all of Grass Valley, brother of Betty Seereiter, Oakland, Katherine Hickerson, Modesto, Frances Tegerdine, Hayward; and son of Mrs. Fred Eason, Alameda. He was 40 years of age and a native of Auburn, California. He was last employed as a supervisor at the California ,Youth Authority in Smartville. Catholic funeral services were held in the Hooper Weaver Mortuary Oct., 28. Burial was in St, Patrick's Cemetery. ++ +++ WEISBROD --~in Sierra Nevada _ Memorial Hospital October 27, 1963, David K. Weisbrod. He was the husband of Edna May Weisbrod, Grass Valley, and brother of Mrs. Augusta Foster, Modesto, He was a native of Wyoming aged 70 years. He was a retired canvas and awning worker and a resident of Grass Valley 27 years. Hooper Weaver Mortuary was in charge of graveside funeral services Oct. 29.
