Austin, Mr. Weston W. Brunker, Mr. James Willis, Mr. R. Peter Ingram-late. Negotiation of theterms of sale of the Seven Hills School to the Nevada City School District was the chief topic of discussion. Stanley Halls and Neil Hennessy, hired by the school board to assess the property, turned in their assessments. The assessments were for $115, 000 and $108,000. Mrs. Sue Jensen, Earl Ericson, and Robert Piercy of the Nevada City Board and Ed Browning, superintendent, and Mr. Gallagher, Seven Hills principal, were present for negotiations. Harold George, Sr. said that he felt the property was worth about $150, 000. After much discussion and compromise, a Sale price of $115,000 was agreed upon. The terms of the sale are to be payment of $6,000 per year with this year's lease payment to be appliedtothe purchase. The interest rate was set at that rate that the High School has to pay on their construction loan. The Board adopted a "Use of School Bus Policy” which was suggested by the transportation pool. The policy states: “Since the increase of school population has taxed the capacity of the transportation system, no pupils in at-. tendance at private schools with= inthe district will be transported on district owned buses, “ and “To allow for the orderly operation of the bus maintenance program, the buses of the district shall not be used by community groups or for community recreation purposes.” Gerald Gelatt pointed out that the law does not make allowance for such uses, anda board member pointed out that the District's insurance probably does not cover these uses. Gelatt reported on the expenditure of funds for the library. He said that the code requires an expenditure,of slightly under $6000 for our high school district, and that well over $6000 was spent last year on books, audio-visual material, and services. Mrs. Ruth Cardin, English teacher, applied for and was granted a sebatical leave for the next school year. She is applying for a John Hay Foundation Fellowship Grant.
