Forty-eight local groups are
sponsoring the Halloween UNICEF
. drive this year.
Any container bearing the official orange and black UNICEF
sealis a fully authorized collection container even if it is not a
milk carton, Last yearsome

were refused donations by persons
who believed only milk cartons
were accredited containers,
The organizations backing the
program are: Hennessy, Seven
Hills, Nevada City Elementary,
Bell Hill, Washington, Mt, St.
Mary, Union Hill, Ready Springs,
Gold Flat and Tall Pines Nursery
Schools.

Elks Plan
For Night
Of Frolic
Nevada City Elks and their
wives and guests will frolic Saturday night in the lodgerooms in the
annual renewal of Helldorado
Night, designed this year as Flapper Times.
The lodge will be flipping the
calendar back to the gin-soaked
era of beaded bags, footlong
cigarette holders, coonskin coats,
hand painted rain slickers, the
Charleston, rolled hose and flat
bosoms.
Merchandise orders will be
given to both women and men
with the most authentic costume
of the era between 1920 and
1930. There also will be a prize
to the best performer of the
Charleston, a dance which was
every bit as vigorous as the pres~ent Twist.
Dance music will be supplied
by Ernie Harries and his combo.
The Highgraders, a folk singing
quintet’ will offer entertainment
on the stage.
The big dinner will feature
prime ribs and everything that
goes with it.
There will be contests of all
sorts for those not wishing to
dance.
The hosts are Mr. and Mrs.

New officers for 1963-64 were
elected at a meeting of the Tall
Pines Nursery School last week.
Mrs, Coy Miller will be President;
Mrs. Edward Sylvester, VicePresident; Mrs. Frank Francis,
Secretary; and Mrs, Timothy
Kays, Treasurer.
The nursery school is now filled
to its capacity of 20 children in
the Tuesday-Thursday class and
20 in the Monday-WednesdayFriday class, and there is a waiting list of children for each class.
