A week or so ago I was talking about driving a Volkswagon and how the neighbor's dog attacked it. Mind you, I'm not discriminating against Volkswagons, its animals that do. So far though, I've never heard of a cat pouncing on one but it was brought to my attention recently that horses don't like them at all. Two bay area newspapers carried the story of the perils of the Volkswagon belonging to Mrs. Nancy King Hayden, who is a public relations gal in the Marin County School Superintendent's Office. She and her family were in Grass Valley visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wyckoff, when their three year old son wanted to ride a horsie belonging to Bob. He was promptly, hoisted into the saddle and was just getting set for a real pales: when the sad dle slipped under Ton Boy's tummy and the equine placed his hoof, and none too gently, into the Hayden's Volks. Nobody mentioned how the tiny lad made out but I hope he's okay. ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER..Harriet Little, who adds the feminine touch to the California Highway Patrol office, was greatly missed during her brief illness. And the Bret Harte Inn will soon be losing (if only temporarily) one of their nicest "regulars". Irene McHenry (with a mischievous Evinkle in her eye) announced to me that she would soon be off to San Francisco. She didn't say for why, but I'd bet that little gal has her self a real Ball over there. Have fun and hurry back, Irene.. Speaking of the Bret Harte, Margaret Sorenson, Maitre De, just received a letter from Abel De Costa (one of the Ink Spots) and enclosec was a check for $1.35 for a breakfast payment forgotten.. . «How's this for a birthday present? {t was a three point buck for Mary CusA. Brown office break up, last time it was due to a batch of beatnik jokes. Listening to her laugh almost takes the sting out of paying her money. Do you ever get that disorganized feeling? I have decided that it's THE NORM. How in the world does Alice Magee manage with the Style Shop, the laundry and the presidency in the N.C. Beeps and all those little things? . Camera tricks? Griffin Says no, and that he will show the public that they can be perfromed before their very eyes without resorting to camera angles, film cutting or any other subterfuge that might be
used on television shows. One of the feature acts of the Ken Griffin show is the buzz saw illusion—a television hit. According to Griffin, many _ illusionists have sawed a woman in™ half, but he has adopted a more modern method and uses a high speed electric power driven buzz saw to disembody his charming “victim.” “We also feature such acts as Roberta in an artistic interlude; Claycha in her sensational flame dance; the Girl with the X-ray Eyes; Navo, “Just a little Indian corn,” and many more.” The stage revue comes highly recommended as a wholesome family type entertainment featuring attractions of stage and television.
