The Twin Cities Concert As§ Sociation will open its 1969-70 ' concert season with the preseri» tation of the famous Los An_ geles Brass Quintette which will ' appear at the Grass Valley Vet. erans Memorial Building, Satur. day, Oct: 18, Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, but also by his membership with the Les Brown Orchestra for two years. He is currently on the faculty of San Fernando Valley State College near Los Angeles, Ralph Pyle, who plays French ‘Horn with the Quintette, was awarded his Bachelor of Science dgree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and did graduate work at the Juillard School of Music. He was solo horn with the New York Woodwind Quintette, and a member of the Casals Festival and Columbia Symphony orchestras. He is currently on the faculty of the Claremont Colleges. In-addition to the Los Angeles Brass Quintette, the concert association will offer a varied program throughout the season with concerts by the Dobaker Trio with harp, flute and viola; The San Francisco Virtuosi Orchestra, under the direction of Laszlo Varga; and a song recital by .soprano Edith Zitelli. This is a quote taken from a series of articles written by Valentino Baima for the Bellevue American newspaper in Bellevue, Washington. The ‘story relates to the history of Newcastle, , Wash, once a booming coal town in the south Bellevue area east of Newport Hills in that area. Baima was reared in Newcastle when the town was alive and booming and was the son of
one of the coal miners. It relates to his family and the hard and happy days of coal miners, See it like it is. Get Color TV. All imembers of the group are tele» vision, motion picture, and recording muscians and currently members of the Los Angeles }, Philharmonic orchestra. The quintette consists of Thomas Stevens, trumpet, who earned his Bachelor of Music ' degree at the University ofCalifornia in Los Angeles. Stevens played solo trumpet with the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, after which he joined the Dallas Sympnony Orchestra. He is currently on the faculty of San Fernando Valley. State College and the University of Southern California. Mario Guarneri, also trumpet, was graduated. from the . University of Southern California cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1964, He received his Master of Science degree from the Juillard School of Music in 1966. He is now . on the faculty of Claremont Colw leges in Claremont, California. Roger Bobo, tuba, received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Science degrees in 1960 and 1961 from Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York, and was a tubaist with the Rochester Philharmonic and Rochester Smyphony orchestras, . At the age of 22 he performed his first tuba recital in Carnegie Hall, New York. In 1965 -he was a soloist with the New Philharmonic Orchestra of London. at -St. Pancreas Art Festival, That same year he was officially recognized by the British .
