by Fay M. Dunbar 273 2934 Mrs. Olyve Simmons of Rough and Ready Road and I spent Monday Sept, 4th staffing the county booth at the state fair. Being a holiday it was especially busy. Neither of us had ever done this sort of thing before but we figured we were smart enough to learn, We learned! The booth itself was clever and self explanatory. Our big problem was the hored of youngsters trying to see how much material they could collect, Some of them may absorb a little of it and maybe take it home for thier parents to see, Knowing what an effort it was to get money and material for the Rough and Ready barochure we hated the thought that some would be wasted, We thought the kind of questions that were asked were most enlightening. In spite of all the material that was provided there were many which we could not answer. We discovered that Nevada county'needs a special fishing map, a map with areas designated for hunting, a complete camping and picnic area map, a brochure on rocks, also one on gold, particularly where the tourist can go to see gold history and do a bit of digging or panning, Of course, they wanted the county map of places to see and how to get there. These prospective tourists seemed to want specific information to cinch their visit to us. Maybe this doesn't prove that recreation is Nevada county's future, but it sure sold us on putting more "specific" information in our next Rough and Ready brochure, : RHEEKK SE ¥ The Rough and Ready Chamber of Commerce will meet Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs, Lisetta Scheave, A very busy meeting is anticipated. There will be a report on the "Country Store’ booth at the County Fair and the County Formation Commissions action on our Rough and Ready Fire District, Plans for Christmas will be discussed, ee KK KK If one of our 4-Hrs' wins special recognition the entire club is pleased and happy and: feels rewarded. Many of our 4-Hrs' won awards at the fair, Deeanne Moore went a step further, She listed her winning entry in the auction. Deeannes’ entry was a fine month old ewe lamb fed and groomed by Dede from where the mother left off. It won a second place, tipped the scales at 79 Ibs, and sold for $1.08 per lb. What a thrill! Sheep project leader was Mr. Charles Sailor, Meg Sailor and Kim Hockett, other sheep project members, also collected some ribbons in spite of the "big sweep" the Paaschs' made in sheep, ee KK & with some definite restrictions from his doctor, 5 th ECHL aR rte ee County Nugget.
