Her hobby of collecting and
decorating manzanita was put to
great advantage when she was
manager of a sportswear shop in
the Sacramento area, Her attractive Ladies’ Shop, which has
been open. for more than two
years, isalso decorated with the
popular bush,
Hobart and Alice Smith are
not new to this area since Smith
has owned property here in this
area for many years,

At present she is studing business
administration at Sacramento City College. She is
in Sacramento as a Bookkeeper
for The United Crusade,
Thomas is studying to be an Engfneer and is majoring in Electronics at California Polytechnic
College at San Luis Obispo.
During vacation he works in the
engineering Dept. of the U.S.
Forestry Service,
Wedding plans are being made
for June, but due to their busy
schedulesno date has been set.

The Rough and Ready Grange
held open House on September
8th, There were 50 members
and guests present for the lecture
and slides by Jerry Magonigal on
New Zealand, Jerry ‘s lecture’
covered not only the life in
broader field of politics, economics, and aspirations of the
Country.
The evening began with loads
of food served! by Mrs, Marguerite Abbott-’iid her H,E.C,
Ladies. The Hall and tables
were decorated by Mrs, Ross
Christensen and her committee,
“They used worms, turtles, birds
of Tropical plumage, not real
of course, and lots of native
plants and rocks all arranged to
provide a delightful background
for our trip.
“The am concluded-with
-a brief ceremonial opening and,
closing of the Grange’and a
little boasting about its past 100
years of service to America by
Grange Master Clara Deardorf,
Mrs, Marguerite Abbott,
H,E,C, Chairman, gave a brief
resume of the project carried
on by the Ladies of the Grange
with the National Grange

the gentlemen of the party wore

The bride was given in marriage by her father John Shields,
Mrs, Janice Mullin served as
her matron of honor and Richard
