AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND
ORDINANCE NO, 286, KNOWN
AS THE UNIFORM LOCAL SALES
AND USE TAX ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY OF NEVADA CITY
The City Council of the City of
Nevada City does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Section 2 (c) of
Ordinance No, 286, as amended
by Section 1 of Ordinance No.
309, is further amended to read:
2(c¢). To adopt a sales and
use tax ordinance which imposes
anine-tenths of one percent
(0.9%) tax and-providesa measure
therefor that can be administered
and collected by the State Board .
of Equalization in a mannerthat
adapts itself as fully as practical
to, andrequires the least possible
deviation from, the existing
statutory and administrative procedures followed by the State
Board of Equalization in administering and collecting the
California State Sales and Use
Taxes.
Section 2. Section 4 (a) (1) of
said ordinance, as amended by
Section 2 of Ordinance No. 309,
is further amended to read:
4 (a) (1). For the privilege of
selling tangible personal property
at retail a tax is hereby imposed
upon all retailers in the city at
the rate of nine-tenths of one
percent (0.9%) of the gross receipts
of the retailer from the sale of all
tangible personal property sold at
retailin the City of Nevada City
on and after.the operative date
of this ordinance,
Section 3. Section 5 (a). of said
ordinance, as amended by Section
3 of Ordinance No. 309, is further
amended to read:
5(a). Anexcise tax is hereby
imposed on the storage, use or
other consumption in the City of
Nevada City of tangible personal
property purchased from any retailer on or after the operative
date of this ordinance, for storage, use or other-consumption in
the City attherate of nine-tenths
of one percent (0. 97%) of the sales
price of the property. The sales
price shall include delivery
charges when such charges are
subject to State sales or use tax
regardless of the place to which
delivery is made.
Section4, This ordinance shall
become operative on January 1,
1966.
Section5. This ordinance, inasmuch as it provides for a tax
levy for the usual and current
expensesofthe City, shall, under
the provisions of Section 1 of
Article IV of the Constitution,
and under the provisions of Section 36937 (d) of the Government
Code, take effect immediately.
Section6. The City Clerk shall
cause this ordinance to be published once, within fifteen days
after its final passage, in the
Nevada County Nugget, \a newspaper of general circulation
in the City of Nevada City.

ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 25 of Ordinance No, 281 is amended to
read as follows:
SECTION 25
License Tax
Taxicabs
Every person operating a taxicab, or taxicabs, within the City
of Nevada City, California, from
a fixed place of business shall pay
an annual license tax of Sixteen
Dollars ($16.00) per year, ora
quarterly license tax of Five
Dollars ($5.00) per quarter.
If granted the exclusive use of
parking spaces, or stands, within
the area of the City designated
as a parking meter district, there
shall be an additional license tax
charged for each such space in
the amount of Eight Dollars
($8.00) monthly.
Section 2. The City Clerk
shall cause this ordinance to be
published once, within fifteen
days after its final passage, in
the Nevada County Nugget, a
newspaper of general circulation
in the City of Nevada City.

13th day of September, 1965,
