Nevada County's apparent murder case turned up in the news again last week when the body of Nevada Indian official, Delbert Howard was found in the hills Council Seat Will Be Filled Nevada City Council will hold an adjourned meeting Monday night toname a councilman to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilman Dan O'Neill. At the regular council meeting Monday night, Mayor Arch McPherson announced that he had received O'Neill's resignation by telegram. O'Neill is now at the University of Oklahoma on a two year grant to obtain his doctorate degree. McPherson said the council should act if the new man was to be appointed in time to be able to attend the convention of the League of California Cities. Councilman Ben Barry said he thought the council should wait to make the appointment until residents had been notified of the vacancy. Councilwoman Carole Friedrich said she did not think the council should delay the appointment, but it was finally agreed to hold an adjourned meeting Monday night and make the appointment at that time. Another meeting has been scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday to open bids for the Nimrod Street and Park Avenue street project. southwest of Reno, Nev. Thecase has been under investigation for more than two months and Nevada County officials at one point had a_ confessed murderer in jail, but no body to indicate that a murder had been committed. Clyde Ibsen, 30, of Toms River, N.J., confessed to Nevada County officials that he bludgeoned and killed Howard, 30, of Winnemucca, near Truckee, Ibsen was arrested in Florida driving Howard's car. He was returned toNevada where he told officials he killed Howard and drove his car to southern California and dumped the body in the.sea. Ibsen went with Nevada County Sheriff Wayne Brown on an unsuccessful search of the sea for the body near Seal Beach. Ibsen was held in the Nevada County jail until the county lodged a charge of auto theft in another state. Last week the body of Howard was discovered wrapped ina blanket along Thomas Creek, 14 miles southwest of Reno. He had been shot in the head. Ibsen waived extradition and last week was moved to Winnemucca for auto theft.
