Lotta Crabtree, retired actress protegee of Lola, Montez, and thirty year's earlier said to be the richest individual in stage life, died in a Boston hotel at the age of 77. The Lotta Crabtree story was " that of much earlier times and is generally known by our readers. Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, ‘assistant secretary of the Navy, was nominated for governor of New York State by the Republican State Convention in Rochester. He claimed a majority vote over the combined votes cast for three competitors for the office. A mining deal of more than usual significance was consummated when an option was granted Idaho-Maryland Mines Company to purchase the properties of Brunswick Mining Company. Local contended that the Brunswick was a continuation of the famous Eureka-Idaho-Maryland vein and that it would no doubt yield a surprisingly high grade gold ore. The body of us Manford Cunningham, old and highly respected resident of Pike City, was found below a lonely. road leading from a mine he was operating and his small home in Pike. He had been unaccounted for over a period of. almost three days when searchers came across the body, guarded by his faithful little dog. The body was naked to the waist, the clothing torn from him as he crawled thru the heavy underbrush in that vicinity. The cororier’s office came to the conclusion that death was from natural causes and that illness had beset him causing his mind to wander. Mr. i was born in Ohio and was 77 years, nine months and 21 days old at time of death.
