At 2:45 a.m. Sept. 3 Pettit was burned to death in the Don Plaugher cabin west of the Chestnut Cafe, off of Marysville road. Plaugher was taken to the Jake Hertline home on Marysville road by Fire Control Officer John Bigley, of the U.S, Forest Service. The Nevada City Rescue Squad answered the calland removed Plaugher to Miners Hospital.
