Huntington adjusts parts of the maze of pipes in the demonstration unit now located at the Grass Valley sewer plant on Deer Creek. New Water Purity System ls Being Demonstrated And Promoted In Grass Valley By Don Hoagland Finding enough pure water to serve the growing needs of California is becoming a more critical problem with every passing day, but a solution may be cooking now along Wolf Creek in Grass Valley. May be are the essential words in the story, for the water treatment system now being demon‘strated here by inventor L. W, Huntington and being backed and promoted by Grass Valley realtor John Looser, hasno local support, nq contracts t o construct treatment plants and no state or federal sanction, What the system does have is astoundingly good results at producing pure water, The trailer housing the demonstration unit is parked next to the city sewer plant. The demonstration is awesome for the water used is pumped right from the city sewer main before the raw sewage enters the city plant, This raw Sewage goes in one end of the Pure Water system and comes out the other end crystal clear and pure, The purity is not just a promoter's claim. On seven tests made on water pumped from the local sewer main and run through the test plant, all were completely free of pollution. As an added attraction to the purification abilities of the System, savings can be realized on the treatment by capturing and selling materials taken out of the water during the process, This, the backers say, cuts down on the cost of treatment. According to Looser, the test plant has been set up in Grass Valley for two reasons, First they want to prove that the plant can do what it is supposed to do--produce pure water. The second aim is to secure local backing so that a company can be formed to fabricate the components and market them from Nevada County. According to Looser, there has been amazing success with the first goal and little success with the second. The Remeo Process (Reno Engineering and Mining Co, holds the patents on the system) is a method for treating brackish, polluted, and alkaline water, The end product is pure drinking water. The process consists of four steps. First the water enters reactors w here bacteria, insects, algae and plant growth are killed and the appropriate conditions for mineral precipitation are created, (Continued on Page 3) Volume 39 Number 33 Cedar Ridge, Union Hill, Peardale, Summit Clty, ¥ ] Willow Valley, Newtown, Indian Flat, Br 10 Cents A Copy 3 Bet, Town Talk, Glenbrook, n Juan, North Bloomfield, Humb . Each evening while these events were going on, crowds continued to fill the fair grounds, Two of the biggest crowd gatherers at the fairthis year were both new. One was the Sixteen to One Mine gold display owned by Mr. and Mrs, William Ghidotti of Nevada City and the other was the scale model of the Grass Valley segment of the freeway which was constructed by the Division of Highways, One had to stand in line to see either of these displays throughout the four days of the fair, we K * ‘New Law Raises Old Question... ._ «How To Define A Subdivision tiguious parcels into five or more parcels for purposes of sale or lease whether immediate or future, The only change here is the addition of the phrase “for purposes of financing" which Roberts said would not require an amendment to the existing county ordinance because this is alread included, , { The definition of what is not subdivision ca me in for several changes mostly in the nature of clarification. It is now stated that a subdivision does not include a division of land into four or less parcels, This was implied before but not stated, The three definitions of what is not a subdivision have been amended but remain essentially the same, The section provides a subdivision does not include the division of any real'property improved or unimproved ora portion thereof which is divided for the purpose of sale, lease or financing if any of the following conditions prevail: 1) The whole parcel before division contains less than five acres, each parcel created by the division abuts upon a public street or highway and no dedications or improvements are required by the governing body. 2) Any parcel or parcels divided into lots or parcels, each of a gross area of 20 acres or more, and each of which has an approved access toa maintained public street or highway.
