PURE WATER SYSTEM inventor L. W. Huntington
adjusts parts of the maze of pipes in the demonstration unit now located at the Grass Valley
sewer plant on Deer Creek.
New Water Purity System
ls Being Demonstrated And
Promoted In Grass Valley
By Don Hoagland
Finding enough pure water to
serve the growing needs of California is becoming a more
critical problem with every
passing day, but a solution may
be cooking now along Wolf Creek
in Grass Valley.
May be are the essential words
in the story, for the water treatment system now being demon‘strated here by inventor L. W,
Huntington and being backed and
promoted by Grass Valley realtor
John Looser, hasno local support,
nq contracts t o construct treatment plants and no state or federal
sanction,
What the system does have is
astoundingly good results at
producing pure water,
The trailer housing the demonstration unit is parked next to the
city sewer plant. The demonstration is awesome for the water
used is pumped right from the city
sewer main before the raw sewage
enters the city plant, This raw
Sewage goes in one end of the Pure
Water system and comes out the
other end crystal clear and pure,
The purity is not just a promoter's claim. On seven tests
made on water pumped from the
local sewer main and run through
the test plant, all were completely
free of pollution.
As an added attraction to the
purification abilities of the
System, savings can be realized
on the treatment by capturing
and selling materials taken out
of the water during the process,
This, the backers say, cuts down
on the cost of treatment.
According to Looser, the test
plant has been set up in Grass
Valley for two reasons,
First they want to prove that the
plant can do what it is supposed
to do--produce pure water.
The second aim is to secure
local backing so that a company
can be formed to fabricate the
components and market them
from Nevada County. According
to Looser, there has been amazing
success with the first goal and
little success with the second.
The Remeo Process (Reno Engineering and Mining Co, holds the
patents on the system) is a method
for treating brackish, polluted,
and alkaline water, The end
product is pure drinking water.
The process consists of four
steps. First the water enters reactors w here bacteria, insects,
algae and plant growth are killed
and the appropriate conditions for
mineral precipitation are created,

The Nevada County Planning
Commission Monday night
ordered preparation of a draft

subdivision ordinance into conformance with changes made in
the State Map Act during the last
session of the legislature.
A special meeting was called

The commission held a wide
ranging discussion on the changes
which covered the area of the

this year was another record
breaking event.
From the opening ceremonies
Thursday morning until the final
closing Sunday night, a total of
45,267 people passed through the
gate turnstiles. Fair attendance
last year was 43,901.
The fair grounds, as usual, were
in good shape andthe new exhibit
building and new paving helped
to improve the fair.
A big crowd of city, county,
state and federal officials turned:
out early Thursday morning for
the official opening. Tom Bair,
chief of the state Division of Fairs
and Expositions cut a log with a
handsaw to signal the opening of
the fair gates for another year,
State Senator Paul J. Lunardi and
Assemblyman Gene Chappie
assisted in the ceremony,

As an outgrowth of the road

From that time on the fair was
crowded with people from all
over the state who came to see
the displays and shows offered on
the grounds,
Large crowds turned out for the

Friday night. Each evening while
these events were going on, crowds
continued to fill the fair grounds,
Two of the biggest crowd

that a subdivision does not include
a division of land into four or less

The three definitions of what is
not a subdivision have been
amended but remain essentially
the same,
The section provides a subdivision does not include the

for the purpose of sale, lease or

conditions prevail:
1) The whole parcel before
division contains less than five
acres, each parcel created by the
division abuts upon a public street

improvements are required by
the governing body.
2) Any parcel or parcels divided
into lots or parcels, each of a
gross area of 20 acres or more,
and each of which has an approved

reference to property to be sold
