Spring Hill Manor -nursing care
Grass Valley
rest home
There’s an elegance, quietly
so, in its appearance as you
drive up to the front entrance
vlexe wee for all the world as tho’
you were arriving at some rather luxurious country estate.
Families and friends may be
assured of great peace of mind
when their loved ones come to
Spring Hill Manor for a stay
of any duration, It is known as
one of the finest facilities in
, all of Nevada County for the care
of ambulatory and non-ambulatory men and women; and it is
conveniently located on Dorsey
Drive on the edge of Grass Valley.
Here the finest concepts of
service in the care of the aged,
the convalescing and the chronically ill are fully reflected in
the daily routines. This nondenominational ‘home away
from home’’ offers access to the
latest and ‘best in care and
treatment regardless of race or
religion. :
The Manor’s 24-hour nursing
care, provided by the best
trained personnel possible to
obtain; its cheerful atmosphere
and modern accommodationscoupled with its Golden Rule
policy all contribute tothe high
morale and recovery rate of its
clientel,
Capacity is 49 individuals and
at present writing there are no
immediate openings, but there
is an impressive waiting list,
attesting to the excellent reputation enjoyed by the Manor.
Accommodations are in one, two
and three-bed rooms, each of
which has an outlook over landscaped areas and views of the
storied foothills of the Sierra,
inescapably theraputic, one
might correctly say.
Clients may enjoy an inviting
lounge area beautifully furnished
in every way. Telephone and
television outlets are provided
in every room; a piano is located in the dining room, and may
be placed elsewhere if desirable.
Employes total 38 at present
and they channel a large monthly
payroll into the communitv econ. nurses,

omy. Included are registered
nurses, licensed vocational
housekeepers, cooks,
helpers and a maintenance man,
. whose scheduled tours of duty
cover the 24 hour detail in full
compliance with all pertinent
regulations and laws for such
establishments.
Life in the best of such
institutions always holds a threat
of boredom for some people.
At Spring Hill Manor “‘boredom’’
is a seldom heard word because
there is too much of interest
provided for the clients to enjoy.
Various church groups provide song-fests and special services, such as the Folk Mass
performed by Father Rial and
some of his young parishioners
once each month. Recently a nondenominational ‘‘Auxiliary’’ has
come into existance on a small
scale, hopefully it will grow with
time and the right kind of encourage ment,
The ladies of this latter group
take patients out for wheelchair
rides about the beautiful
grounds; some play games with
those who are more closely
confined; others write letters for
those who cannot cope with that
chore personally; and there are
some who just come to ‘‘visit”’
with those whose families and
other friends do not always find
the time regularly. Many a firm
friendship has developed out of
these contacts.
Special parties are ‘held to
observe individual birthdays and
other occasions. The kitchen
and dining room will be made
available by special arrangement for these pleasant little
diversions,
There is no limit on visiting
hours and children are always
welcome at any time. Further
information may be obtained by
phoning 273-7247, 8:30 to 5 p.m.
daily.
Spring Hill Manor was established by Drs. Corson and Vixie
in 1966. The assistant administrator on duty is Mrs, Anne
Peterson, who has been with the
organization for five years, Mrs.
Peterson welcomes inquiries
and visitors; and she displays a
warm and friendly concern for
the welfare ofeach andevery one
of the Manor’s residents at all
times.
