Park Rangers must necessarily be "Jacks of all trades" capable of giving a campfire program, conducting trail hikes, helping hapless motorists with their malfunctioning vehicles, heading rescue parties into the back country, asking skinny dippers to cease their improper behavior and get Some clothing on pronto, picking up runaway youngsters, finding wanted persons for other agencies; or just riding herd on litterbugs and those persons who can't remember to extinguish their campfires, All these "chores," plus many more too numerous. to detail here, are part and parcel of the average day's work for our National and State Park Rangers, And, bless them, they do their thing for our pleasure and comfort .. efficiently and cheerfully. We all hope we can get through this fire season without a major fire in our area, Let's all be careful, Mr. andMrs, Raymond Krarsch have returned to their summer home in Washington, after spending a week at Oak Harbor, Washington, where their ‘son, Roy, is stationed at Ault Field Naval Air Station, While there, their son and his wife, Sheri and their five month old son, Jasen took them on a tour of the base, They also went to Canada, The Raymond Kraushs participated in the baptism of their grandson, Jasen, they stood in proxy for friends of Roy and Sheri, Mr, and Mrs, Chuck Herron of San Mateo, Roy was practically raised in Washington, and has many memories of the old swimming hole and fishing along the Yuba. He was last here in 1969 for a weekend, Mrs, Rene Krausch has been coming to Washington for 37 years. Williams, accompanied by his son, Joe, and Jean Williams, returned from .a trip to Alaska with their camper and a coot, The latter is not exactly a trailer or a boat, but does the work of both, Williams said they were able to cross waters which even the natives could not navigate, Mrs, J. D, Williams recently completed a picture of Peggy Lee, which was presented to Miss Lee by the Madonna Inn when she sang for two large audiences there. Mrs, Williams is now painting a picture of Mr. Madonna; and has written a poem about him which was presented to his wife. The inn is located at San Luis Obispo, Mrs, Willjams has also been invited to speak at the Auburn Book Fair; for which, it has been reported 90,000 invitations have been sent, Frank Butler died suddenly in Nevada last Thursday. He was a retired Naval officer, and was 64 at the time of his death, His survivors include his wife, Inez; and two sisters, Services were held Saturday, Mrs, Kay Gray of St, Louis has been visiting Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth Harper, Mrs, Gray and her two children accompanied the Harpers and their four children on a trip to Disneyland and Fort Bragg, Mrs, Gray and Mr, Harper are sister and brother, Clifton Bowen of Los Angeles is spending the school year with his father, Ron; and the neighborhood boys and little sister are enjoying his company, Mrs, Bowen says, The Women's Auxiliary of the Penn Valley Fire Department will hold its annual three-day sale at the fire house starting Oct, 8, Sit back and let classified ads to the seling for you. i ling, renting or buy.
