Lake of Pines gets go-ahead on ranchos Despite a desire by Acting Chairman’ Dean Lawrence to have a week to study the documents, the board of supervisors Tuesday adopted the final map and subdivision improvements agreement of Lake of the Pines Ranchos, The newest of Boise Cascade's developments in Nevada county, the Ranchos came up for action early in the morning meeting when County Counsel Leo Todd said he had the final map and improvement agreement and that they were in proper order. The proposed subdivision is in her district, and Supervisor Willie Curran noted that "if the supervisor in that district is concerned about it, I'll wait." The item then was tabled until next Tuesday. But a little later, David Clendening, .engineer for the developers, came to the microphone and protested that "delay of approval of the map one week will put a burden on the definal map were brought to the board with assurances from the cecunty counsel, planning director and public works director, the board always approved the map," Clendening contended that "it should be public knowledge before you adopt" a change in policy to delay maps a week so supervisors.can peruse them. Truscott is the only surviving member of the original group. William Thomas ‘joined the club in 1929 and Johnny Nankervis joined in 1930. For many years the club held their indoor activities in the second floor of the Eldridge building across from the Grass Valley City Hall until the death of Harold Eldridge who was a Past President of the club. When the building was sold the club members built their present club house on the Truscott property on Alta Hill which ground was donated to the club by Ruth and John Truscott. : The club purchased its Fuller Lake. pr in 1931 from the late William (Bill) Black. The Grass Valley Rifle, Rod and Gun Auxiliary was organized in 1941, They presented Ruth Truscott a 25 year pin, She is a Past ’. President and also served as Secretary-Treasurer for three years. The club presented John Truscott with a fine precision Swift Barometer in a beautifully , designed case inscribed as follows Presented to John D, Truscott for 50 years of loyal service as Secretary Treasurer.
