The Nevada City Chamber of
Commerce is going full tilt on
its photography contest, held in
conjunction with the Autumn
Color Spectacular, Photo arebeing accepted for competition at
the chamber office between the
hours of 11 a.m, and 3 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Any pictures taken between the time of
Sept. 14 and October 28 of this
year, are eligible. Does anyone
have any good prints from the
Constitution Day celebration?
Subject matter can be of anything
withinthe city limits: historic
spots, activities of people, parks
or playgrounds, beauties of
nature, et cetera, For complete
rules of the contest, call the
chamber at 265-2692, It is open
to anyone who can snap a shutter.
The chamber is _ offering
tickets for the Kiwanis Annual
Gold Mine Tour, this year scheduled for two days, October 5
and 6, Take-off time will be 8:30
a.m. both days, from the Fair
grounds on McCourtney Road.
A pasty lunch, included in the
price of the tickets, will be
served also at the fairgrounds
at noon. Included in the tour
will be the Malakoff State Park,
along with others in and around
the Grass Valley Nevada City
area,
The chamber is planning a
"party" to celebrate the completion of the Zion Street facelifting. Tentative date is October 5th, but a definite date will
not be set until later this week.
As long as visitors continue
to troupe through the doors of
the Nevada County Historical Society Museum on Main St., it
will remain open for their pleasure, New hours are from 1la.m,
to 5 p.m, allowing local business
people to stop in on their lunch
hour to see what refurbishing had

The Chico Chapter of the
American Guild. of Organists
will present Robert Rayfield in
an organ recital on Monday,
September 30, 8 p.m. at the
Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian
Church, Chico,
Mr. Rayfield, of the Indiana
University music faculty, will
play: "Song of Joy” and "Song
of Peace", Langlais: "Concerto
in D Minor, Vivaldi-Bach; "Fugues on the Name BACH", Schuman; "Prelue and Fugue. on
B-A-C-H", Liszt: "Fast and Sinister, Symphony in G Major",
Sowerby; "Three Improvisations", Brindle; "Scherzo from
Symphony VI", Vierne; "Pageant"', Sowerby.
Professor Rayfield, a graduate of the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago with
the degrees Bachelor of Music
and Master of Music, also holds
the Doctor of Music Degree
from Northwestern University.
He was awarded a Fulbright
scholarship for organ study in
Paris, .
Professor Rayfield has played
concerts in the United States
and Canada and has made several records of organ literature. Before coming to Indiana —
