So what does a guy with 17 years in the news business say when picked to be chief censor at the CBS Television net-. work? . “¥ don’t approach this job as the censor,”’ is what Van Gordon Sauter says. He’s CBS’ new vice president for program practices, the top yea or naysayer on the content of its entertainment shows. . “I’m here to represent the interests of the network and July: ‘And I like to think I can do that and still deal with the creative people in a way that doesn’t end with my being postured as ‘the censor.” .
