Last week thesupervisors
postponed the adoption of a mapthat would lump Chicago Park,
Willow Valley, North Columbia,
Truckee, etc, into a new supervisor's. district 5, It would cover two thirds of the county, What
happened this week my ‘crystal
ball did not tell, ;
Truckee fears being represented by a supervisor from
our end of the county as much
as we fear the reverse, Pat
Sutton of Truckee tells me, They
feel little kinship with the rest
of the county, mostly due to
their geographic isolation,
Far from being backwards,

The Golden Empire Council
of Boy Scouts will host the 1973
National Boy Scout Jamboree
which will mean that 39,000
scouts and 11,000 volunteers
could create an estimated $12
million in revenue during a 10day encampment in Nevada
county.
Nevada county is in theSierra
Nevada District of the council,
and “is fortunate to have the
opportunity to help host the jamboree in this country," BobGates
of Grass Valley, an executive
‘board member of the council
said,The council, which covers a
large part of Northern California and a portion of Nevada, is
seeking a suitable site for the
jamboree. The location should
be on three to five ‘thousand
acres with access to roadways
and a domestic water supply
and preferably on a lake, river
or stream, Gates said,
The jamboree is slated for
July of 1973, Gates said a site
selection is necessary within
the next six weeks, Those with
suggestions for a location are

chairman, 273-0933; Reid Jackson, district commissioner,
265-4531, or Gates at 265-4521,

There is evidence, however,
that we can all pull together as
we did for the very successful

January 1, 1880 Grass Valley
Daily Union: "A few years ago
there were three bridge crossings over the Bear River on
roads leading to Colfax.
Now none is passable to travel,
The upper or teamster's
bridge had several spans washed out a year or more ago,
"The bridge on Crandall Road
is gone (approximate location of
present Bear River Bridge on
Colfax Highway) while the lower
or Taylor ( Crossing) bridge remained in tolerable order for
light teams until the present
winter when it was washed partly out, The only good one is
Gautier's Bridge on Auburn
Road, We're advised a free
bridge was to be built, We
recommend it .be built at Crandall Crossing."

in our neighborhood, Mr, Litchfield of Siesta Drive built a good

Mrs, Milhous said that women
