The derrick with which he was at work fell, and forced one of his legs against a rock in such a manner as -to cut off most of the flesh and muscles, and was severed,and it bled so profusely, that before Dr. Hunt, who was called, arrived, all hope of saviug the man’s life _was_abandoned, -and—at aboub 1 o’clock: at he dled.
