If we were all as flush, and the county as
rich and populous as it wae six. yeare ago,
we might let you try the experiment. But
our mining tewns are failing, our population
draining off, our resources weakening.—
Such enormous taxes as would have to be
levied to pay the interest and provide a sinking fund to-psy off the principal in twenty
years, would drive off investments from the
county, and burt us mare than a railroad
