‘Tuesday, April 10, 1877.
Miners in ‘this district desire to
have no publicity to their proceedings. Itis with the greatest diffculty thatan item can be obtained
* from any ofthem. The ory always
is “waita little longer and we will
be ready for you.’’ Such a thing as
@ Baperintendent coming to our dffide to give us the result of: hia last
clean up, or telling what progress he
has made, seldoth everhappens. If
___we get wining items we have to trav-ébfor-them, We know this is not
_ the case in other mining camps, and
sometimes’ we have become dis. couraged in trying to keep the out-}
«. side world posted us to the mining
Owners aay if their
mines are noticéd too frequently it
situation here,
would look as if they were wanting
to sell and they have no such desire.
The Providence ledge is probably the
largest gold bearing ledge in the State.
Itis not known yet how wido it is.
Recently agenuine bonanza bas been
struck in one point ef it. The rock in
the new findis heavily sulphuretted
as all the rock in the mine is, but at
this peint free gold is visible all
through it. We hear very extravagant statements about the richness‘of
therock, Some say that twenty-five
* pounds of gold were obtained from
one hundred pounds of the sulphureta: All agree on one thing that it is
the richest sulpburet rock ever taken
out in this district. _Wedo not wish
to say too fiuch about the matter for
* fear of offending the owners, for we
know they want nothing said about
it,
