Crawford yesterday received a large assortment of excellent reading matter by the last steamer from the East. He has the Atlanticand Putnam’s for April, Harper’s and Frank Leslie’s pictorials, the Bazar, Hearth & Home, and lots of others. Those who want late reading matter should be sure to call on Crawford, Hoeicipg.— Cashin & Kent have slaughtered over 3,000 hogs during the season, and converted them into hams, bacon and lard superjor to any to be ‘found in the State, We have tried them and Know whereof we speak The hams, bacon and lard from this esablishment have attained a State reputation and bring better — than _ any others. New Gun.—We ommurday examined a gun invented by Gove, which shoots without powder or other explosives.— It isexceedingly simplein construction . . and if it can be made to shoot as accyrate and with the force of a rifle, a revolution ‘will certainly take place in gunning. The:new gun may be seen at 4. P. Davis’ shop. EASTWARD Boounp.—Sinion Rosenthal, of the firm of J. & 8. Rosenthal, left this morning for New York,to visit his old friends and purchase a lot of dry goods for the trade in this city. He is one of the oldest merchants in the county and knows exactly how to suit the tastes of the people. While abroad he will make arrangements by which to secure from the East the shipment of all the new styles of goods for this market. ities INTERRUPTION OF MINING.—We are informed that the supply of water for mining operations has been cut off in the lower part of Bridgeport township, in consequence of the. breaking of a ditch or flame. The damage will, however, be soon repaired, and operations resumed. ‘ In Town.—Charley Kent, who has been traveling through the lower counties buying cattle, was in town yesterday for a few hours.
