Gift Enterprises,
At this time’ when gift enterprises
are 80 numerous it would Be ‘well for
persons Who are desirous of trying
their luck, to scrutinize closely the
names and{sianding of the references,
This rule should be more strictly applied to Eastern enterprises, such as
that at Omaha, for the benefit of a pub.
lic library. ‘Among tlie references ig
Hon, William Alexander, of San Fran-~
cisco. Those who, invest have a right
to know who William Alexander is,
and whether the use of his name is
authoriged. No such Henorable.is
mentioned ip the Directory of that
city. Besides those’ who invest~in
Omaha tickets havea right to know
Lytord & Co. Readers should recollect
that George Francis Train is a real
estate Owner over in Omaha, and the
schemes originated there may. be -of
the same character.as George Francis’,
namely—bilks. Besides, it would bea
to. stop over night. at Omaha, starta
acheme and leavé for New York the
next morning, to'draw from ‘the pockets of buyers who. will he allowed to
wait for prizes; antil die gets back.
One fact will be noticed, che honerable
referenees are not known te the pablie, .
aid the number ot-tickets to be sold is
not announced in the scheme.—
One, whe is referred to, advertises
himself ag @ newspaper peddler, and on
the back of his cards'a check for ‘seats
in the Academy of Music, Omaha. So
it appears be holds the honorable po-.
sition of box agent and usher in the

citeful in investing in Eastern. lottery
