Phe Com] 9o'clock this—-moerning. thence proceed to Mulloy’s ranch, on the Red‘Dog road, where, they will engage in target shvoting for medals, both silver and leather, now held bytwo of their number, being the best and poorest shots, Alter the shooting, the Company will ‘parade’ through the principal streets and then disband until evening, when they will appear in all their beauty at the ball to be given at. Temperance Hall A large crowd will no duubt be in attendance. ~ “PHEY FOUND IT.—A_ party of prospectors left this city, one day. last week, for the purpose of finding, if possible, some lo_eality not tar from town, where none but diggers had ever trod befure, in. search of a quartz lead. One of the party returned on Monday last, to obtain more tools and-a lott of grub. It seems they wandered over the hills and saw a great many ledges, but did not deem them worth taking up, and when about six miles from town they found a well defined lode, from twelve to fourteen feet thick, which they traced a considerable distance. A piece of rock, from the croppings, show a speck or two of gold and a large lot of gelena. They were to commence sinking a shaft yesterday. No work hus been done within two milea ef this discovery. i QUARTZ UN THE Bnraly.—We believe there are but few persons in this community who are not affected, more or less, with quartz on the brain., Well, itsa good thing, and we glory in it for the sake of the city, county and State. We have never known so much interest being tuken to discover new and re-open old leads as at thé present time. Qne thing is certain, not a day has passed sitice the late storm but what two or . three new. discoveries have. been found, and allwithia a*tew miles of this city. Winpy Nigut.—We have talked with ene of the oldest inhabitants, a digger, and’ neg within his memory has he known the wind to be on such a tantrum as during’ the whole of Monday niznt. It blowed continuously fur about-12 hours. ‘To our readers below, we can assure them that it blowed like—well, you know, Mar. Contracts AwakveD.—The mail contracts awarded are as follows: Route No. 14,779, from Marysville to Gibsonville, No. 14,791. from Timbuctoo to North San Juan, to Wash. Montgomery, and No. 14,» 781, from Marysville to Rough end Ready, tuC. B. Fowler and Wash. Montgomery. ELECTION.—The election of (Officers of the Light Guard, took place oo Monday eve. Bing last. John A, Lancaster was re-elected Captain, M. 8. Deal, Jet Lieutenant, Jos. R. English, 2d Lieutenant, and James Hackley, Jr. 2d Lieutenant. THe road being built between this tity and Willow Valley, we understand is being done by the ¢ounty to connect with the Washington road, the grade of the old road being too heavy for teams. New Store.—A new dry goods store has been vpened on Commercial street, nearly opposite Randolph's jewelty store, by Cline & Novitzky. Their advertisement appeare in the columns of teday’s TaaNscripT. OUR merchants’ are now receiving ims mense stocks of goods, for the spring and ‘lmmer trade. All anticipate a lively busihess and we are confident they will not be disappointed. EGeo, D. Kendall, Captain’ of the comPany raised here for Unele Sam, about 18: months'ago, returned to thie city yesterday, Most of the time tif company was stationed at Arizona. Ce oe DURING the day, this city 1s the dullest Place in the State, and in the evening when the miners and ore come in from Work it is:devidedly the liveliest.
