The Stock Break. ;
The Carson Appeal says: Brokers
and operators in mining stocks con-.
fess themselves at a loss for a reason
for the present condition of uffairs.
They forget,'or never seem to have
known, that the stock-market has
exhausted its sources. of supply, Let
a circus come to town and it does a
big business and makes money fora
day or two, Let it stay a week and
it goes to the Sheriff—or the Sheriff
goes to the circus, which is the same
thing. The stock market thrived,
while it did thrive, on the savings
and current income of the peuple.
When the people’s money gave out
and they were in debt past redemption, the market bad to live and last
on itsown capital and its bad debts
or eat its head off. It. has been
forced to thie last resort, and the
picking, has proven excéedingly
clean. The people, while they
could, kept up the percentage and
furnished the expense money. The

able becatise it is confined-to the
sharpers who are non-prodacers, By
an inexorable law, capital is never at
astandestill, If it does not increase,
it diminishes. Now.the stock market does not live off the mines. A
mighty small allowance of dividendmoney goes into the pot, The inflowing capital must come from outside sources,—trade;»miners’ wages
and the mechani arte,—-profits and
eurnings must be available or the
game resolves itself into sharp practices between the professivnals. By
and by, when the people are fattened
up again, flush times in the stock
market will be possible—with the
stock market or some other business
which promises the illusion of quick
made-fortunes. Surface digzings

Heavy Shipments.
The North Bloomfield Gravel
Mining Company have been making
some heavy shipments of gold during
the past month and they are now
taking out the precious metal in
large quantities. We could not get
the figures, as we never can, which
seems to be an exception to the rule
If the
same shipments were made from
Virginia City, the amount would be
heralded in every paper at that place
and San Francisco. We never could
understand why Gompdnies do not
give us items, bat it seems they
will not. Our object in getting such
news is to let the outside world
know how we are getting along in
this part of the State, and if mining
men will not assist us, we can never
expect to be able to do it,
