The Post says that ‘during the
past week about 465 immigrants
“}have arrived in San Francisco. by
rail. A large proportion of these
are well-to-do Eastern . farmers,
who desire to settle in the State.
Very few laborers or other perso: #
without capital have arrived fcr
the last month. The steamers
‘from Portland are bringing quite a
large number of people from Oregon, who are almost destitute. A
representative of the Immigration
Association has been examining
lind in Lake county, near Blue
lakes, for the past week. He is
much pleased’ with the land, but
he, would be still more favorably
impressed with the land of Nevada
county if he would take a trip up
here. The land is not only much
better here, but it can just at present'be bought for a great deal less
money per acre.
