EARTHQUAKE.—The people of our city
Were startled on W ednesday night and yesterday moruing, by a couple of regular San
Francisco “shakes.” The first shock occurred on Wedneslay might, at hatf-past 10
welock, but was so slight that few felt it.—

shock of the earthquake yesterday morving

lowing places: San Juan and Grass Valley

Nevada at 174 minutes past 5 o'clock, and
Downieville at half past 5 o'clock. It probe
ably did not extend beyond the Sierra
meustains.
