The Mining Fight. bes a .
The Mining Advocate gives the following as important co-incidences:
The war against hydraulic mining began in 1877, but not on a scale to at. tract much attention. It grew in pro
portion in the three or four years following. In 1881 the mints of the
United States coined in gold $78,743,000. The anti-debris forces that year
increased in activity. But in 1882 the
game mints coined $86,413,000 in gold
or eleven millions more than the previous year. The year 1882 is noted as
the year in which the case of Edwards
Woodruff, et al. was commenced on
which the noted decision of Judge
Sawyer was given which struck a terrible blow to the mining industry.
The year following 1883, the mints
eoined but. $35,927,000 a falling off of
more than $50,000,000 in a single year,
followed by a coinage of $27,933,000 in
1884, and $24,861,000 in 1885. These
are co-incidences of remarkable suggestiveness. The period of financial
and business depression that came
during the years 1883, 1884, 1885 and
1886 is another inco-cidence worthy
of serious attention.

MILLINERY WORK.
‘A’ good milliner must be an artist,
for unless they have the taste in combining colors, they will produce only
poor effects with rich materials. If,
however, the milliner has skill in the
management of colors, and original
ideas as to grace and form, it is surprising to see what handsome Bonnets
and Hats can be produced from even
simple materials.” In our establishment we employ only an efficient milliner, and aim to display as much
skill upon the medium and low-priced
work as on the more expensive kinds.
