Where growing crops are -listed by the County Assessor and the tax paid, the farmer will have a just cluim upon the Board of Equalization for relief in ull cases where the crops fail. Legitimate property fur taxation has increased largely in the State the past ten years and there is no necessity of straining over the law which requires the listing of ali preperty to its fall value. -Butthe farmers-must not eensure the . efficers whu are required to assess growing crops and coliect taxes onthem. The Legislature which wakes such outrageous laws is the party at fault. We advise all farmers tu list growing crops under protest and come buck upow'the Board of Equalization for relief. Decisions of the Supreme Court, in analagous cases, are aguinst any such taxation, The’ Assessor of Yuba county is using careful discretion in this matter, and ‘where the crops are dubious the doubt is given in favor of the farmer.
