Maggett’s Want of Reverence.
Samuel Osborn, the phonographer
now in this city, recently received @
letter from a friend in Honolulu, in
which Minister Daggett’s want of respect for royalty is strongly pictured.
At ® reception some time ago in the

“Who is that little duffer, your
majesty?”
a tear glistening in her eye, ‘‘that is
a picture of our little son who died.”
The only reply that Daggett made
was an unconscious, ‘Oh, h—L!”
At the same receptién Daggett
asked the Queen whether she ever
drank whisky, to which she replied
that she occasionally sipped a bit
of it. :
“Well, then,” said our Mitister, :
‘‘ send your royal demijohn around
tu the legation and you shall have a
gallon of the best youfever flopped
your royal lips over,”
That’s the kind of royalty they
