He is said to be more intelligent’ than the ordinary Chinese thieves, and is usually employed when any extraordinary job isto be putup. He is well acquainted at Moore’s Flat, San Juan and all points in this county, and is also familiar with the ground in Placer county. In securing Ah ’ Quoy, the officers think they have got on the inside of a regularly organized band of Chinese thieves, and that they will find out ‘some other thefts perpetrated by them besides the Wood’s robbery at Grass Valley. _ Since his escape, Quoy has been to ‘Moore’s Flat, San Juan and other places, and when he fell into Snow's clutches was in Grass Valley for the purpose of getting the property stolen of Wood out of the county. k ‘Hang Jary. N The jury in the case of Johnny Glynn, charged with burglary in entering the house of Lawrence Cavanaugh, near Allison Ranch, failed to agree and were discharged/ This was @ very aggravated case, Glynn, in company with another man,’ entered the house, pulled Mrs. Cavanaugh out of bed, and compelled her to light a candle arid accompany them in searching the house. The acrime was raised by the defense, and the defendant testified that he was so dtunk that he did not know what he was deing. His good character was proven by the defense. The jury was instructed by the Court that drunkenness was no_justification of crime, but they could not agree on a verdict and were discharged. The case goes over to the next term of the County Court. a County Court. N Yesterday Ah Jim was tried ‘in the , County Court upon the charge of grand larceny in robbing the cabin of Depew & Reese at Rough and “Ready.” The cabin was entered and . robbed of clothing, money, a pistol, etc. on the 4th of September, and Ah Jim was caught with the goods and acknowledged the theft. He was prosecuted by District Attorney Caldwelland defended by J. C. Palmer, the only issue being as to the value of the goods. The case was submitted without argument, and the jury after being out a short time returned with a verdict of ‘‘guilty of grand larceny.”?/ Ah Jim upon going -to jail after hearing the verdict cried like a baby at the idea of going to ‘the penitentiary and losing his que. ‘Sale of Road Contracts. wi The Road Commissioner will sell ship this afternoon at 2 0’clock, in ‘front of the Court House in this city. A human ruin can be repaired, strengthened, restored, though a brown leaf ora withered blade of grass can never be made green again. In the autumn of life, or even in its winter, when nature seeins to be giving away under the pressure of years, it is still Possible to retard the progress of decay, and to lend to age more than its wonted vigor. A& a means of promoting this object, Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters is unquestionably the most potent of all restoratives. It will not make the old young, but it will prevent, lessen or sooth the infirmities which are the usual accompaiiients of the decline of life. For debility and a lack of nervous power, from whatever cause avising, it is the medicine that of all others before the world, best deserves the name of a specific. In purity, in invigorating properties, in its adaptation to weak stomachs and feeble organizations, it has no competitor among the tonics of the Pharmacopeeia, nor among proprietory remedies. Besides its strengthening principle, it possesses alterative and regulating properties of the-highest order, and as an anti-bilious medicine is far preferable to any of the preperations containing mercury. Time has shown that for physi‘cal decay, nervous debility, dyspepsia, bilious, disorders, and intermittent fever, Hostteter’s Bitters is a remedy without a rival. This is the season of the fall of the leaf; let it remind the oid, the feeble, the ‘sickly to [ invigorate and regulate their systems with this great vegetable tonic and alterative. : = 6 NEVADA DRUG STORE. _—— E, M.
