Tae Coming Session.
The incoming session of the California Legislature promises to be
ome of-the most interesting ever
held siuce the organization of the
‘State. The election .of . United
States Seuator will occupy the first
portion of the sessivn, and the. fight
islikely to be a lively one. . ‘The
several contestaats are well supplied
with experienced manipulators, and
each is determined to win, ‘Then
nent subject for discussion, ‘Tlie
school book questivn will also have
tobe disposed of. Irrigation and
other matters will arise for. disposal,
und the question of taxation will be
promineat. The Democracy being
largely in the majority, will have
the opportunity to bring aboat the

the past ten years, and it itdoes not

and we also believe that our county
will be ably represented in the lowér

as if the fewer the laws -passed .at
this session, the better it will be
for the State, inasmuch as the coming constitutional Convention will

We don’t know what the real reason

A Prediction.
Dick Lambert understands, from
what he considers bigh authority,
that the California Senatorial caucus
will stand for Parley, 32; for McDonald, 32; for Ryland, 21. A proposition will be made for Ryland ta throw
sideration of being nominated for
the next Governor. Should this arrangement fail, it is thought that
either Dr. Gwin or 8S. M. Wilson will

are now considering the propriety of

of tue report to which we desire to

and that no Chinese labor be em.

tue tride and production of Naps

of construgtion may be a trifle less,
