THURSDAY MORNING, OCT. 20th. FOR PRESIDENT, FOR VICE PRESIDENT. ANDREW JOHNSON. » 5 ELECTORS: : J, ¢. McCALium, of El Dorado. 8. Beannawn, of San Francisco. @. Macuay, of Santa Clara. W. W. CRankjof Alameda. W. Otrven, of Siskiyou. For Con 8, First District—D. C. McRurR. * Second * —Wm Hicry. Third %§ —Jonn BIDWELL. For Supervisor— Th District, WM. McDONALD, of Columbia Hill, Tue. TReEASONABLE ConsPinacy.—The invéstigations of J udge Holt concerning trea: sonable sssuciations in the l-yal States show that these societies bear varivus titles. All appear to have the seme obj. ct in view, to be accomplished by means suited to the various loeslities. The “MeGlellin minute men” is thé name under which the order rallies in New York. Itappears froma circular issued from the chief evoretary at New York, ttiat the society is organized upon a military basis. It is compoved of compas nies and brigades with » Br gadier General at the head. The sapreme commander of thé order is P. C, Whight. editor of the New York News who-has been imprisoned at. Fort Laytayette, for disloyalty. V.Handig. ham ie the leading Spirit and it is suid to have been founded by him during bis banish. ment, upon consultation with D.vis and other traitors at Richmond. The order in Indiana boasts thatthe ritual came direct from Davis and a member testifies that Davis ie a mems ber of it. The order was being armed and it is estimated that it has 300,000 to 1,000,000 members. The ritual declares against ‘the authority of the Federal government to @oerce by arma any sovereign Btate, and avers that the officerd of Government mny be expelled by force of arme When they —refuse to administer the governitent in ac. cordance with the letter of the Constitution. The oath binds the members to detend, by arms, the principles of the’ order wherever directed by competent authoity of the order. Judge Holt says that, The Order i hostile in’ every respect to the General Government and friendly to the so-called Confederate Giovernwent. — It was exclusively made up Of disloyal persone, desirous of preserving the independence of the Confederates with a view to reatoring the “Union we it was.” The purposes of the Order are shown to be aiding soldiers to desert, the destruction of Gove: nment property, the destruction of private property and the persecution ‘of Union men, hesnaai vation, und finnlly the’ establishment of 4’ ‘Northern Coiifederiop.” Stevens the chiet « eretury stated to a Witness examined, ‘that those who advocated the McClelian interest were compelled to breach a vigorous prosecution of the war iti orcer tu secure popular sentiment and allure voters.” The leading men of the above order are leading men of the Copperhead party, control ite policy and moke its plattorme and Place candidates in nomination. Can any man who prolesaes to be loyal te the govern. ment, vote for George B. MeClelian after the above developments in regard to bie suppor tere. Werbelieve that the atateiient of the Canada paper to the off-et that McClellan was & member or the order, will yet be Proved belére the @lection, If he is not, the * Sraiturs iu the order are the men who will control the policy of ie administration. A Good Democrar.— Hay, George 8. Hillard of Pennsylvania, aays he ie stll a Democrat, and na “such these is but one. course for him to pursue—to vote and work and fight for the preservation of the Gow ernment, the Constitution and the whole Union He aud to ame frien » recently, “As the rebels went out ander the present Administration, they shall, by the grace of God, come back under it; I ahull’ vote for Abraham Lincoln." That's the Democracy of “Old Hickory” but there ait’t a particle of it among the Coppernende, — ONLY three deaths we urted in Sacramento last week—ell femiies.
