——
Its Delicate Structure and Susceptibility to Injury from Wou
ed
‘During the past few weeks, owing to an
event of national intcrest, much: has been
said and written about the injurious effects
of wounds in the liver, and aecording to the
Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion,
of the thousands of cases efwounds in that
“organ, not above sixty survived; and they
were not violent ones.
The structureof the liver is delicate and
yet simple. It is composed of two lobes,
which lie directly under the right. Jung, and
is of agpongy character. When the veinous
plood is circulating fron¥the various pai ts of
he body to the hangs, it passes through: this
gan, and is there relieved of its rank poi, part.of which ore used for digestion
and pert for a cathartic of the. waste materials o&the food we eat. H the organ is a8
all dis THESE POISONS REMAIN IN IT, instead of being used as nature designed, and
with every coursing of the blood through
the lobes of the liver, the nature of “the disease becomes chronic. The reason why so
little success bas hitherto been reached in
the treatment of liver disedve is because the
philosophy of treatment has been lame and
“the remedies ‘employed have been inadequate. It iso conceded fact that unt within the past few years there has been no
known remedy for chronic kidney diseases,
and itis certaim that the liver cannot be restored toits right actiom if the kidneys are
affected. Itisalso afect that when the liver
is diseased the kidneys are also troubled;
hence, it follows that liver diseases are.hard
tw cure, chiefly because the doctors know of
no agency which will at one and the same
time operate on both the kidneys and the
liver,-<eee :
Admitting then, that no form of treat. ment can be effective which does not seek to
reach both the liver and the kidneys at the .
same time, it would be strange, Tudeed, if in .
alithe researches of this wondertul age of
scientific invention no ~such remedy had
been found. The doctors admit they have
nothing to offer, but independent scientists
have honored their leartting and patience, .
by discovering a pure vegetable remedy
whose unparalleled success in the past
few ;ears in the treatment of kidney
difficulties, shows conclusively ‘that it can
cure every form of known kidney. disease,
and what it hasdone fo: the kidneys itis
equally able to do and does do for the liver.
Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure was .
the discovery of a practitioner, who proved
its worth in his own case and then yave it
to the world. . Lt acts both as a food and 4,
restorer to the kidnéys and liver so that
when disease is ured in one of these organs
it cannot go to the other, but is-eitirely removed from the system,
Liver troubles are caused pringipally by
malaria, which is, at the present ‘time, becoming so great an’ evil in’ this. land,—so
of Williams College, has just published a long
and interesting article on its wide‘spreading
prevalence. He.states thétmalarial poisons
appear in all lovaljties, the high, and dry,the
low and damp, in,the crowded city and the
roomy-ceuntry, angthere are no differences
ag tothe effects produced, Malaria is in the
water we drink, in the air we breathe, in the.
food we eat, aid while constantly and naturally increasing with the growth of the counry, ib is just at present afflicting us, as the
epizooty did a few years’ago, as a widespread and dangerous epidemic. ;
~What, therefore, can be the cause for thi
erritile increase of malaria-ip all parts of the
states and ter:itories? Unquestionably the
drinking water used in every portion of the
land is the most active agency for carrying
malaria into the system. -'This water may be
elear, but it has become poisoned by filtration through the vaults, cesspools and barnyards in the country, and other impure
agencies in the city. Heretofore the Western states and territories and almos$ the entire South have been considered the field of
malaria, owing doubtless to the poor drainage
in many localities and the consequent accumu‘ation of greén poisonous matter. This
theory is, however, now exploded, because
malarial pojgoning is becoming just as com-.
mon inother regions, as those which have
beeh settled for hundreds of years.
Whatever may be the cause of. malaria, its
existence is a terribly established fagt, and
so much sp that it isattracting the aptention
of the legging physicians, scientigig and
scholars jpevery portion of Ameriga. By
means of jf blighting powers the blood becomes pojgoned and the most terrible diseases follow. The special field for the operation of thig poison is in the liver. If this
organ is at all diseased, malaria siezes it
withadeathgrip. It is therefore absolutely
necessary tokeep the liver in perfect epndition and especially at this time. Thy elements of Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver
Cure are exactly fitted for just this very
purpose. Composed of a pure and simple
vegetable extract and prepared in the mest
careful mannar, it has been the means of restoring more people to. health within the
hast year than any other agency known in
theland. Pro§,8.A. Lattimore,Ph. D., LL,
D., one of the.gpalysts of foods and medicines for the Mew’ York State Board of
Health, proneunges its elements and compo
sition purely vegetable, neither poisonous
nor injurisug, In order to counteract the
greatest care is required, especially at the
présent time in guarding the kidneys and
a which are the governors of the system.
