NEVADA CITY. CALIFORNIA,

LOCAL INTELLIGENCE,
Forest SPRINGS ScttooL.—The Fors
est Springs School Trustees have been
fortunate enough to secute the services
of B. J. Watson, who for several years
prior to his recent visit to the Atlantic
States had charge of the school, and
made it one of the best in the county.
He has a faculty for arousing the interest of both parents and pupils in the
cause of education and securing the
united effort of the people for the ad.
vancement of his school. Mr. Watson
isa live teacher, and the people who
have tried him, : consider themselves
fortunate in securing his serviees again. .

“prospect that: the -Trustees will have
ample material to select from.
LaTE PAPeRs.—We are indebted to
George Crawford for late copies of Eusts

out it. It has been in use three years
and tMe sales are immense. It is an
excellent article for the complexion. It
will remove tan, freckles, moths, pimples, and all blemishes of the skin. It
gives a delicacy to the complexion, unrivalled by nature, as thousands who
have used it can attest. The Stuart
Sun Pearw is a grand success. Try

SHOCKING ACCIDENT.—A young man”
mamed Wm. T. Wilburn, of Carneros,
Napa county, recently went to work on
retiring for the night placed a candle
upon what ‘he thought was a nail keg
by his bedside. It proved to contain
five or six pounds of powder, however,
and when he blew out the light a
blew him across the room, injuring him
in a shocking manner. He got up,
however, and put out the fire which
had communicated with the bedding.’
He was taken to Santé Rosa for medical treatment, and is recovering.
THE Utah Reporter, alluding to the
Byron scandal, says that in Utah, apos~
tles, presidents, bishops, elders, priests
and teachers, without shame or secrecy,
practice worse crimes than Mrs. Stowe
accuses Byron of. High officials marry
nieces—their own brothers’ daughters,
and even twoof them at once—marry
half sisters, mothers and daughters at
the same time,‘and even sisters of the
whole blood.
DgsPeRATE AFFRAY.—At the conclusion of a ball at Jamestown, Tuols

four or five times. in the left side.
Both are supposed to be mortally
wounded.
