Tue La Porte Rospery.—Dribblesby and Carpenter arrested iu this county some time siuce, upoa the charge of robbing the Ls Porte stage, wore exummued and indicted. by the Grand Jury of Sierra county, on Mooday last. They were arraigned on Tuesday, in the County Court, and botb plead guilty. They wil! be sentenced by Judge Davidson, on Saturday next. Corbitt and Wolfington Were yesterday brought to this city by _ Sheriff Kirkpatrick of Sierra, and Officer Rice of Sacraments, and lodged in the County-Jail, to await ‘the action of the next Grand Jury. ‘They are charged with being uccessories to the rubbery, avd were sent ‘ here upon the ground that if they ar guilty of any offense it was committed in_ this “ county. : A Fine.—Yesterday afternoon, about 3 o'clock, an alarm of fire was souhded and a dense black swoke was seen rising above the gas works. .A large quantity of pitch pine stucked up back of the works had been set on fire. The Hose Companies were out prowptly and No.1 goon had a streamon. The fire was extinguished in a short time. In consequence of thé late raing the wood burned slowly and the ‘firemen got the advantage of the fire. It is supposed that the fire was started by children playing -as it is difficult to accuurt for it upon any other ground. Rich Lepce.—We learn that Ed. Hare vey hus struck a rich ledge on Wood’s Ras vine. Between thirty aud forty tons of the rock crushed ut Supgs’ mill paid twenty dollars tu the teu.« As the ledge is six or seven feet wide it is a good thing. _ THe Fentans at BircoviLLe.—A flours ishing order of the Fenian Brotherhood has been established at Birchville.
