It will be recollected that when the hero and patrio€ died, his last will was. found to confirm his expressions in life in favor of cremation. He required his executors to,-see that his body should not be buried, but burned: The feelings of some of thé members of his family, and not a few of his friends, were adverse to such a treatment of his remains. resent head of the family, the Deputy Menotti Garibaldi, has been entreated again and again by his father’s admirers to carry out the reat patriot’s last request. ~ Menotti owever, has elways steadily resisted these appeals. The whole business has now been put into the hands of the Milan Cremation Society, which is about to take legal proceedings against Menotti Garibaldi in order to compel him to lay aside his personal objections and comply with the direction of his father. “Fads” and “Faddists.” A word that is often heard in English olitical talk is “fad”. It has hardly yet ound its way into the dictionaries, but “fads” are many, and “faddists” and “fadmongers” abound. Mr. Sala has sugested that the word is a corruption of ‘faddle,” to dandle—in French, dorlotor. It will be recollected that when the hero and patrio€ died, his last will was. found to confirm his expressions in life in favor of cremation. He required his executors to,-see that his body should not be buried, but burned: The feelings of some of thé members of his family, and not a few of his friends, were adverse to such a treatment of his remains. resent head of the family, the Deputy Menotti Garibaldi, has been entreated again and again by his father’s admirers to carry out the reat patriot’s last request. ~ Menotti owever, has elways steadily resisted these appeals.
