The great commercial and shipping firm of John D. Spreckels & Brothers 1s rerecent event it would seem that that towboats controlled and operated by the : Louisiana Company of San Francisco rich prizes ‘were drawn by two engineers employed on these boats, W. .H. O'Donnell, chief engineer of the tugboat Alert, and who resides at 1206} Polk street, drew amounting to $15,000. James E. Driscoll, chief engineer of the tugboat Vigilant, who resides at 125 Nineteenth street, ““that-city, drew one-half of the! second capital prize, amounting to $2,500. The singular thing about this good fortune 1s that one.agent sold both tickets to the v lucky parties, and that they should: both be chief engineers on boats owned by one frm. Messrs. O'Donnell and Driscoll mptly received their money from the Original Little Louisiana Company. They are naturally elated at their good luck, but have not yet shown any intention of buying a line of towboats for themselves we and starting an opposition to Spreckels _and very popular, and everybody is glad of their good fortune. Ss “This is the second time the water front of San Francisco has captured the capital prize of $15,000 in the Original Little Louisiana. Inthe January drawing this year it was won by Charles Brown, chief officer of the bark Southern Chief. In the same May drawing,*which was ——— — tortanate $0 Spreckels Brothors'em~ ployees, Peter Hanson, proprietor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel at Petaluma, Cal., drew the whole of the third capital prize, amounting to $2,500. Among the winners of small prizes won in the May drawing of the-Original Little Louisiana arethe following : M. Jacoby, resiiting at 503 Fell street, San Francisco, Lindvall, employed by the Pacific RollA. Alloggi, of San Jose, Cal., drew $125 ; F. Westerberg, of 205 Third. street, San Francisco, drew $125.
